You know, the strangest thing happened to me on the way to outer space today...

The Fall - Last Orders
—-

Everybody’s telling me to listen up
They’re trying to run my life for me
I’m gonna tell ‘em -
Tell ‘em their term’s up

They’ve just given me their last orders
Their last orders

Everyone’s in prison or in the army
All sincere, all phoney
Reading all the books, taking in the news

I don’t dig their dead-end options
I’m not hurt by their rejections
I’m no sell-out, and they’ve found out

Everybody’s telling me to listen up
They’re trying to write my life’s story
Joke’s on them, it’s the end of the rap

They’ve just given me their last orders
Their last orders

Rickenbacker Guitar of John Lennon, 1964. Private Collection.

Awesome guitar! John Lennon’s still a douche, though.

“To put it mildly, the world is a mess.”

think-progress:

"The nicest Satanic cult in the world" gets a little creative.

I’ve been waiting for this to happen. The Supreme Court shouldn’t be deciding which philosophical views are valid. What the SCOTUS did is inherently unconstitutional, and ignores the people(employees, i.e., real Americans) most affected by their ruling. A separation between church and state is one of the main reasons we have the 1st amendment. No preference by the government of one religion over another!
All this to say, I totally support this campaign.

The Brian Jonestown Massacre - Spacegirl

I was in love - I was staring in the sunrise
Living lost in your eyes
I’m alone, I was dreaming…

There’s something about her gaze…

There’s something about her gaze…

Pavement - Major Leagues (demo)

I loooove the demo version of Major Leagues. It has more of that coy, boyish charm.

“Parents should worry if their children haven’t been arrested by the time they turn sixteen. Being a juvenile delinquent is a birthright and as much a part of healthy adolescence as smoking cigarettes or getting pimples.”

– John Waters, Shock Value: A Tasteful Book About Bad Taste

This little silver pipe was a gift from my sister. She bought it from a street vendor in Thailand. I love the shape and the way the mouthpiece is curved. It’s too charming for me to use, I think.

All Natural Lemon and Lime Flavors - Muffin ‘57
—-

I’ve often seen this band described as a mix between My Bloody Valentine and Stereolab. I don’t agree, but I can see why some would say that. And surprisingly they’re from New Jersey.

My brother noticed this before I did: the main riff of this song is a variation on “Short Wave” by The Brian Jonestown Massacre.
